soft squares

  • SOFT SQUARES explores a tension between geometric clarity and material imperfection. Emerging from the logic of 3D printing in clay, each vessel begins as a digital extrusion of a square but ends in a softened, slumped, and textured form. Their surfaces are hand-finished after firing—rigid forms made plastic, tectonic yet soft. When clustered together, the vessels suggest a proto-architecture, pointing toward domesticity, collectivity, and quiet transformation. They are, as Oldenburg once imagined, the square which becomes blobby.
